Design & Consulting Services

This section presents a selection of electronic devices designed by Pranasys.

Udana 2.x

This project involved the design and implementation of hardware (PCB, cables, etc.), firmware and software applications. In addition, research in new technologies and trends were conducted (survey of available technologies, analysis, comparison and prototyping).

MDB and DEX protocols were implemented in order to enable the communication between Udana device and a vending machine.

Udana device communicates with the central system via an Internet connection through a GSM/GPRS link.

Specific hardware and software tools were developed as part of this project:

  • DEX protocol simulator: It is a software application that runs on a PC, through its serial port simulates a vending machine s DEX interface.
  • MDB protocol simulator: It is a hardware device that simulates a vending machine using MDB protocol.
  • Software tools for hardware debugging (TelcoTest and TelcoMonitor).

Macana 1.x

Macana device is a controller board for a thermal printer with cutter.

This project involved the design and implementation of hardware (PCB, cables, etc.), firmware and software applications. In addition, research in new technologies and trends were conducted (survey of available technologies, analysis, comparison and prototyping).

This project required a strong interaction with the manufacturer of the printer and cutter mechanism.

Udana 3.x

A new version of Udana device was designed based on the know-how acquired in designing and manufacturing Udana 2.x device (previous model) and the feedback obtained in the field. Essentially, this project consisted of changing the hardware in order to improve processing power and memory, to add new features:

  • The firmware architecture was changed in order to implement a remote firmware upgrade (OTA, "over the air").
  • Incorporate higher levels of security.
  • Incorporate Macana 1.0 device to Udana device.
  • Incorporate the possibility of handling multiple languages.
  • Incorporate the possibility of expanding the range of intangible products for sale.

The design of the Udana 3.x device involved the design and implementation of hardware (PCB, cables, etc.), firmware and software applications. In addition, research in new technologies and trends were conducted (survey of available technologies, analysis, comparison and prototyping).

The software tools developed in the previous version for debugging, programming, testing and support were improved and integrated in one single software program called TelcoTools.
